About the Artwork

This Shetland pony painting catches a small, stubborn moment. A chestnut pony with a shaggy blond mane has found the washtub and decided the bathwater is his. His forelock spills down into the water while a few soap-colored ripples swirl around his muzzle.

Curtis Bramlett paints in a mid-century style, with confident flat shapes and visible brushwork. The cream background is laid on in broad, sweeping strokes, the tub is a deep teal enamel, and a soft olive shadow anchors the pony's feathered hooves to the floor.

It's for anyone who grew up around horses, anyone who has watched a pet drink from somewhere it shouldn't, or anyone who wants bathroom wall decor that makes guests smile instead of just matching the towels.

As bathroom canvas wall art, it hangs nicely above a tub or beside a vanity, and the warm neutral palette suits modern bathroom wall art schemes as well as farmhouse ones. It also works as powder room wall art, where one good laugh goes a long way.

I work out of a former tire shop near Route 66 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cooking on a busy diner line taught me rhythm, timing and how to keep many things going without losing the order. I paint bold mid-century shapes in mustard, olive and burnt orange, balanced with teal and cream, and I keep my edges crisp like the hand-lettered signs I grew up around.
