Abstract Christmas Santa in Gold Drips - Canvas Wall Art

Esme Rowan built this Santa out of palette knife strokes and let the paint run. The red hat sweeps across in one thick slab, the white beard cascades down in ridged layers, and long cream drips fall from it toward the bottom of the canvas. Flecks of gold sit in the hat band, the beard and along the coat like worn gilding. It reads as abstract christmas art up close and as a clear, kind face from across the room.

There is an old world santa art feeling to his calm expression, but the handling is loose and modern. A streak of teal runs through one side of the beard, the coat collar dissolves into pink washes, and the warm cream background is scratched and streaked so the whole piece feels alive. As a red christmas painting, it is soft rather than loud.

This is for anyone who loves Father Christmas but wants something more painterly than the usual holiday decor. It suits collectors of textured art, people who set up a tree every year without fail, and anyone looking for a santa claus art print that feels like a real painting.

Hang it as christmas wall art for living room spaces above a sofa or mantel, or give it a spot in an entry where guests see it first. The red and cream palette sits easily next to greenery, brass and white linens, and it works alongside other christmas canvas prints or on its own as canvas wall art that carries the season.
