About the Artwork

Three tall palms lean over a low desert casita, their slender brown trunks stroked in long single lines and their crowns opening into teal, olive and rust fronds. Amanda Kerr builds the house from flat, simple blocks: a rust orange door, deep teal windows, and a golden breeze block wall dotted with small square openings. Behind it, a clay-colored peak sits in front of rolling teal and olive hills, and a pale tan sun with soft rings hangs in a cream sky.

This is palm springs wall art with a mid-century heart. The paint is thick and loose, with sweeping horizontal strokes across the sky that feel like dry wind and late-morning glare. Spiky agaves, round stones and a sandy yard lead down to a pale sidewalk and a gray strip of road along the bottom edge.

It suits anyone who loves desert modern homes, drives through the Coachella Valley, or canvas wall art that feels calm instead of loud. As palm tree canvas art, it carries the warmth of tropical home decor without any beach clichés.

Hang it in a sunny living room, above a walnut credenza, or in an entry that needs summer wall art all year. It pairs well with white walls, warm wood, terracotta pots and woven textures.

One rule: the brush texture stays in. Every stroke of pale aqua, soft tangerine and lemon cream goes down flat and confident, and I leave it alone. The low rooflines outside my breezeway studio in Palm Springs feed the palm fronds, pools and kidney-shaped forms I paint. Staging homes for sale proved one good piece can wake up a whole room.
