About the Artwork
Leo Hartwell keeps this one simple and lets the shapes do the talking. A big burnt orange half circle sits on a thin walnut line, a deep teal pebble leans in beside it, and a mustard ochre arc floats overhead with a small olive dot for a sun. The paint is laid on thick, and you can follow every swirl of the brush through the orange and the teal.
This is mid century modern art with a quiet, handmade feel. The warm cream ground is brushed in loose curves rather than flat, so the open space has texture too. It reads as a calm earth tone abstract wall art piece, balanced without feeling stiff.
It suits anyone who loves teak sideboards, clay pottery and the easy geometry of the 1950s and 60s, but wants something painted rather than printed off a pattern. If you have been looking for half circle wall art with real brushwork, this is a good place to start.
Printed as canvas wall art, it hangs well above a low credenza, a sofa in warm neutrals, or a bed with linen bedding. The terracotta, teal and mustard pick up wood tones and rust textiles, and the cream background keeps a smaller room feeling open.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I designed printed fabrics for a mill in Long Beach for eleven years, and I still think in a few simple shapes: a leaf, a pebble, a half-circle. In 2016 I left the mill for the canvas. I paint a handful of those shapes at a time, by hand, in mustard, rust and teal, and leave the brush marks in.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
