About the Artwork

A tidal creek bends through flat Lowcountry salt marsh, catching the pale light of early morning as it runs toward a low, hazy horizon. Wade Kimbrough builds the marsh grass in quick, dry strokes of tan and straw, then lets the water and sky soften into wide horizontal bands of aqua, cream and mist.

This horizon wall art sits right between landscape and modern abstract painting. Up close you see loose brushwork and scraped texture in the clouds. Step back and it settles into quiet layers of color, the kind of view that slows your breathing a little.

It suits anyone who grew up near the coast, misses tidewater mornings, or just wants something calm to look at. The soft blues and sandy neutrals make it easy zen wall art that works with wood, linen and white walls alike.

Hang this canvas wall art over a sofa as wall art for living room spaces, or above the headboard as restful wall art for bedroom walls. It also holds its own in a hallway or reading nook where a long, open view feels welcome.

My studio sits on a marsh creek outside Charleston, where the light changes every hour. Twenty years inspecting boats taught me to look closely at weathered surfaces and still water. I build each canvas with thin layers of oil pulled across by a wide brush, then soften the edges with a knife so sea and sky blur into calm bands of slate, cream and a hint of teal.

It looks amazing!

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
