About the Artwork

Rodrigo Salcedo painted this one with a light hand. Two flat-topped mesas in burnt clay orange rest on a pale horizon, a tall saguaro lifts both arms in the foreground, and a muted gold sun hangs in a cream sky. Low agave clumps in teal and sage scatter across the sandy floor, each casting a short brown shadow.

The brushwork stays visible throughout, with soft edges and sun-faded color that feel like a postcard from 1958. It is desert wall art that leans on simple shapes and quiet space rather than detail, which is exactly what makes good mid century modern art so easy to live with.

It suits anyone who collects mid century modern prints, loves road trips through the Southwest, or wants earth tone wall art that feels calm instead of busy. If you have been looking for burnt orange wall art that is not loud about it, this piece gets the balance right.

Hang this canvas wall art above a low walnut credenza, a cognac leather sofa, or a bed with linen bedding. It pairs well with other mid century modern paintings and fits naturally into mid century modern home decor, a Palm Springs-style living room, or a sunny entryway that needs some mid century wall decor.

Rodrigo Salcedo

I paint in a sunny upstairs studio in Guadalajara, above the street where I grew up. Before painting full time I designed glazed tiles for a family ceramics workshop, and that taught me to think in repeating shapes and quiet colour. My canvases borrow from the modernist houses of my city: soft mustard, teal and terracotta in flat planes, with arches, palms and circles brushed by hand.
