About the Artwork

There's order to nature here, and that's the whole point. This Des Moines Arboretum piece captures the formal garden at its peak, where circular flower beds, sculpted hedges, and winding pathways create patterns that feel both intentional and alive. The color palette moves from deep forest greens to coral and peach blooms, with golden yellows catching the light. It's geometric without being stiff, natural without being wild.

The style leans mid-century modern, with simplified shapes and bold color blocking that recalls vintage travel posters. Each tree and shrub is reduced to its essential form, but there's enough detail in the flower beds and pathways to keep your eye moving through the composition.

This connects with Iowa natives who know the Arboretum's grounds, plus anyone drawn to gardens that balance structure with beauty. A solid gift for the gardener in your life or someone who misses Des Moines.

The canvas wall art format suits living rooms, bedrooms, or a home office where you want something calming but not boring. The horizontal composition fills wall space nicely without overwhelming smaller rooms.

After my divorce in 2018, I moved back to Birmingham and rented a garage behind my sister's house. What started as weekend experiments with color became something I couldn't stop doing. Banking felt like a different lifetime.
