About the Artwork

Six thick bands curve up from the lower left corner and sweep off the right edge, like a rainbow caught mid-rise. Russell Ackerman painted each one by hand in rust, sand, mustard, blush pink, sage and rust again, letting the brush drag and fray where each band meets the bottom of the canvas. The rest is open cream ground with a soft woven texture showing through.

This is burnt orange wall art that stays quiet. The two rust bands frame the arch like terracotta wall art, while the muted middle tones keep it in earth tone wall art territory rather than a bright kid's-room rainbow. It reads as a boho painting with the restraint of a neutral abstract canvas.

It suits anyone who likes bohemian wall art but wants a calmer, more grown-up take, and people who collect boho abstract wall art with visible brushwork and honest, imperfect edges.

Hang it as boho living room decor above a linen sofa, beside a rattan chair, or over a clay-toned console. As a large boho wall art piece it anchors a wall by itself, and this canvas wall art also works in a nursery, entry or bedroom where warm, soft color is welcome.

I leave out the chimney, the bricks, even the fire. Only the arch stays. As a chimney sweep I cleaned hearths and saw how soot and firelight shape the color of a room. In the back room of a brick row house in Hudson, I stack rust and mustard curves over pale cream. Each holds some fireside comfort.
