About the Artwork

This is where the story starts. Celine Marquez loaded her palette knife with black and pulled one heavy beam up from the lower left, steep and sure. At the base the paint sits thick and glossy, almost sculpted, with thin drips running down into gray. As the stroke climbs, it thins into a dragged, dry edge that lets the cream ground show through.

As the first panel of our black and white triptych wall art, it sets the direction for the set, but it holds its own as a single piece too. The scraped cream plaster texture, the smoky gray veils on the left and the raw knife marks give it that wabi sabi wall art feeling, where the imperfect edges are the point.

It suits anyone drawn to minimalist abstract wall art with real surface and movement, and people who like their black and white wall decor to feel handmade rather than printed flat. It sits comfortably alongside japandi wall art, linen and pale wood.

Hang it above a bed as black and white bedroom wall art, line up all three panels as abstract art for dining room walls, or pair it with a low sofa. This canvas wall art brings quiet weight to a calm, neutral room.

My tía Rosa's colorful kitchen walls in Guadalajara made me obsessed with bold colors before I could even hold a brush properly. After years of tattooing, I discovered painting let me work bigger and wilder than skin ever could.

It looks amazing!

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
