About the Artwork

This cockatoo is not taking a quiet soak. Ximena Robles painted it standing in a shallow round washtub, wings half open, yellow crest raised high, and water flying everywhere. The white feathers are built from soft scalloped strokes, while the wings fade into lemon yellow, sage, and violet.

Her splash watercolor style does the rest. Drops of indigo, magenta, and ochre spray across the cream paper, and paint runs down the sides of the tub and pools beneath it. It is bath time wall art that feels loose and lively, with every splatter adding to the commotion.

It is made for bird lovers, anyone who has watched a parrot take a bath, and people who like quirky bathroom wall art with a sense of humor. It sits well alongside other animals in bathtub wall art and bathroom art prints from our Bathroom Animals collection.

Hang this bathroom canvas wall art above the towel bar, beside a vanity, or as small bathroom wall art in a tight corner. It works as powder room wall art for guests to smile at, as half bath wall decor near the sink, or as modern bathroom wall art against white tile.

My studio is a tiled courtyard room in Oaxaca where bougainvillea climbs right over the door. Painting alebrijes taught me that a bold color only sings next to a calm one. I wet big sheets, throw down magenta and jacaranda purple with a loaded brush, tilt the board to let them run, and finish with spatters of mango gold.
