“Working with molten glass for six years taught me about color temperature in ways I never expected. When I switched to painting in 2017, those lessons about heat and light translated perfectly to capturing Mexico's vibrant markets and sun-drenched landscapes.”

About Silas

Molten glass gave Silas Berrington an unexpected education in color temperature, six years of it. When Berrington switched to painting in 2017, those lessons about heat and light carried straight over to Mexico’s markets and sun-drenched landscapes. The artist, who spent an exchange year in Barcelona, is based in Charleston, West Virginia.

Berrington’s impressionism has an abstract edge, and the palette leans on Caribbean blues, sand and soft gray. Favorite scenes include surfboards under the palms at Sayulita, Campeche’s cathedral glowing after rain, the shifting waters of Palancar Beach on Cozumel and a wooden pier at Playa del Carmen. Below are the artist’s best sellers with us, each one ready to hang.
