“Mountains, skylines and horses are the subjects I keep returning to. As an architectural model maker, I learned that a few clean planes can suggest a whole building. Each form rises out of heavy impasto, drips and pale translucent layers. Gold goes where the light should catch. I rent a bay in an old Denver brick factory near the rail yards.”
Seth Brannigan paints in a rented bay of an old brick factory near the rail yards in Denver, Colorado. He worked as an architectural model maker, which taught him to suggest a whole building with a few clean planes. He holds a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Colorado Denver.
Working in oil and cold wax impasto with gold accents, Seth lets mountains, skylines and horses rise out of heavy texture, vertical drips and pale translucent layers, adding gold where the light should catch. His minimal abstract canvases suit a living room, office or modern entryway. Below are Brannigan’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
