Sara Galli
“In Como I spent six years drawing patterns for silk scarves: lemons, tiles and stripes repeated a thousand times. I fell in love with clean, airy colour on a pale ground. My kitchen paintings keep that freshness: lemons on majolica, a caprese on a gingham cloth, shrimp on a striped plate, in light gouache with plenty of white around them.”
About Sara
Sara Galli spent six years in Como designing patterns for silk scarves, drawing lemons, tiles and stripes that repeated a thousand times across fine fabric. Trained in textile design at the Politecnico di Milano, she learned how a motif breathes when it is given room, and she fell in love with clean, airy color set against a pale ground. That discipline of rhythm, restraint and freshness still guides every brushstroke she makes.
Working in light gouache on canvas from her home in Como, Italy, Galli paints the pleasures of the Italian kitchen: lemons resting on majolica, a caprese laid out on a gingham cloth, shrimp arranged on a striped plate. Her modern, painterly still lifes leave plenty of white around each subject, so the colors feel sunlit and calm rather than crowded. The canvases are a natural fit for kitchens, breakfast nooks and dining rooms, and they bring a bright Mediterranean note to entryways and open-plan living spaces too. Below are Galli’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
