“My studio is in an old mill building in Providence, full of north light and the smell of linseed oil. Restoring antique textiles taught me to respect layers, thread by thread. I paint the same way, laying thin veils of oil with a wide brush and knife until coastline and sky dissolve into soft bands of blush, cream and dusty blue, with plenty of open space left untouched.”
