“I paint around Madison, often on the shores of Lake Mendota or among the dairy farms west of town. Fifteen years as a landscape architect taught me to see how land, water and sky fit together before I worry about detail. My brushwork stays loose and broken, with misty greens, soft lilac shadows and hazy sunlight that feels calm rather than loud.”

About Neil

Neil Brannon paints around Madison, Wisconsin, often on the shores of Lake Mendota or among the dairy farms west of town. He worked for fifteen years as a landscape architect, which taught him to see how land, water and sky fit together before worrying about detail. He holds a BS in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Neil paints in oil on canvas board, on location, with loose, broken brushwork: misty greens, soft lilac shadows and hazy sunlight over lakes, farmland, barns and winter fields. His impressionist landscapes feel calm rather than loud, and settle easily into a living room, home office or bedroom. Below are Brannon’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
