“Working the Missouri River ferries for eight years taught me to read light on water like a language. The way morning fog lifted off the current, how afternoon sun caught the muddy surface - I started sketching between crossings and never stopped.”
Lincoln Fairchild learned to read light on water during eight years as a Missouri River ferry captain, from morning fog on the current to afternoon sun on the muddy surface. Sketches between crossings became a lasting habit. Fairchild holds a BFA from Arizona State University and paints in Kansas City, Kansas.
The work pairs impressionism with expressionist color. The Empire State Building rises through streaks of gold and gray in a foggy New York skyline. A bison stands in a snowy Elmwood Village street in Buffalo, and pastel Art Deco buildings line Ocean Drive in Miami. These are the artist’s top sellers in our shop, each one ready to hang.
