James Parker

Pittsburgh, PA · Impressionism & Abstract · 10 years active · 5 artworks

“Working harvest seasons in Oregon wine country taught me to see color differently. The way morning fog rolled through the Willamette Valley inspired my first serious paintings in 2014. Moving to Pittsburgh brought urban subjects into my work, but I still paint landscapes like I'm remembering those vineyard mornings.”

About James

Harvest seasons in Oregon wine country changed how James Parker sees color. Fog rolling through the Willamette Valley in the morning led to the first serious paintings in 2014. Parker, a former vineyard worker who apprenticed under a sign painter, later moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and city subjects followed.

Soft blues, beiges and grays carry Parker’s mix of impressionism and abstraction. So far the best sellers all come from Chicago: brick storefronts in Andersonville, the Chicago River as a turquoise ribbon crossed by bridges, a skyline glowing like neon over Lake Michigan and the river at dusk. Parker’s canvases are below, each printed on matte canvas and stretched over solid wood.
