“I spent nine years finishing lime-plaster walls in old Duluth houses, and learned that a wall with almost nothing on it can still feel alive. In 2018 I moved from walls to canvas. I paint a stone, a branch, a far horizon or a single stroke, in chalk, oat and warm sand, and leave the rest to breathe.”
Hanna Lindqvist spent nine years finishing lime-plaster walls in old houses in Duluth, Minnesota, and learned there that a wall with almost nothing on it can still feel alive. The former plaster finisher, who trained as a painter, moved from walls to canvas in 2018.
Lindqvist paints minimalist canvases: a stone, a branch, a far horizon or a single confident stroke, in chalk white, oat and warm sand, on a plaster-like ground with plenty of empty space. The canvases suit Scandinavian, Japandi and neutral rooms. Below are Lindqvist’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
