Esteban Olivares
“I look for a scene where color sits in clean planes: a whitewashed wall, an orange tree, a quiet patio with warm stone against cool shade. Years restoring ceramic tiles gave me patience for that. Above a bakery in Triana, with the smell of bread around me, I lay it down in thick knife slabs. The scrape marks stay.”
About Esteban
Esteban Olivares paints in a narrow studio above a bakery in Triana, the old riverside quarter of Seville, where the smell of fresh bread starts his day. He earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville. He then spent years as a ceramic tile restorer, bringing worn Andalusian tiles back to life. That work taught him patience, and it showed him how color sits in clean, confident planes. You can feel both lessons in every canvas he makes today.
Working in oil on cotton canvas with flexible Italian palette knives, Esteban builds whitewashed walls, orange trees and quiet patios in thick slabs of paint. He sets warm stone against cool shade and leaves the scrape marks visible. His impressionist, painterly scenes carry the light and calm of a Sevillian afternoon. They feel at home in sunny living rooms, Mediterranean-style kitchens, entryways and reading corners, anywhere you want a little southern warmth on the wall. Below are Olivares’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
