About the Artwork
One stroke, and that's the whole painting. Nathan Garvey loads the brush with black ink and sets it down near the top of a pale cream ground, where the mark is wide, dense and nearly glossy. Then it falls slowly, like a pour, thinning as the ink runs out until it breaks apart into separate dry bristle lines that fade into the surface.
The background is worth a close look too. Layers of warm off-white paint carry faint knife edges, soft patches and small worn spots, the kind of quiet imperfection that makes this a natural piece of wabi sabi wall art. It's neutral minimalist wall art with real texture behind its single gesture.
This is for people who like a room that breathes. If you collect minimalist abstract wall art, lean toward japandi wall art, or want black and cream abstract art that feels calm instead of stark, this black brush stroke wall art will feel right at home. It also brings a modern minimalist wall art look without going cold.
The tall vertical format suits a narrow wall, a hallway end, or the space beside a window. Hang it as black and white bedroom wall art above a low dresser, or choose it as abstract canvas art for living room corners that need one strong mark. As canvas wall art it pairs easily with other black and white wall decor, wood, linen and stone.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
On clear days Mount Hood is a pale shape on paler sky. Each painting starts that way: a wide field of warm white. Then a few brushed marks in ink grey or clay go down fast, never reworked. Six years at a bonsai nursery proved removing things is most of the work. Rain usually drums on my small Southeast Portland studio skylight.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
