“Working fourteen-hour shifts in a Denver chocolate shop taught me about texture and layering in ways I never expected. When I finally traded my tempering machine for paintbrushes in 2016, those same techniques found their way onto canvas through thick, deliberate strokes that build up like ganache.”

About Tate

Tate Winslow learned about texture during fourteen-hour shifts in a Denver chocolate shop. In 2016 the tempering machine gave way to paintbrushes, but the habit of layering stayed, and Winslow still piles on paint the way a chocolatier builds up ganache. The artist studied at Central Saint Martins in London and works in Denver, Colorado.

Expressionist and painterly, the work favors strong color and animals with presence. Longhorn cattle stare straight out in burnt orange and teal, a Highland cow stands mirrored in still water, and a shaggy calf peers through wildflowers. Aspen in autumn and the Las Vegas Strip at dusk widen the range. Our best-selling Winslow canvases are below, each one ready to hang.
