“I paint in a courtyard studio in Oaxaca, with thick adobe walls that keep the afternoons cool. Plastering adobe for twelve years taught me patience with layers and respect for how a surface dries. I lay warm grey grounds over deep charcoal, then finish with strokes of bright plaster white that catch the light like a freshly limed wall.”
