“Teaching kids to ski in Colorado for eight years taught me patience I never knew I had. When I moved back to Missouri in 2010, I started painting the mountain landscapes I missed. Now I split time between plein air work and studio pieces that capture those wide-open spaces.”

About Roman

Roman Adler spent eight years teaching kids to ski in Colorado and found a patience there that came as a surprise. After moving back to Missouri in 2010, the former ski instructor began painting the mountains left behind. Adler now works in St. Louis and holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute.

Adler mixes impressionism and expressionism, setting warm oranges and browns against cool blue. Mountains and open country come first: a gondola over alpine meadows in Telluride, red rock spires along a Sedona trail and cowboys working a herd at a Fort Worth rodeo. Charleston’s historic row houses also glow along the Battery. Below are the canvases our customers pick most often.
