“Teaching teenagers in Rome for eight years taught me patience, but painting taught me freedom. I started seriously after a sabbatical in Tuscany, where morning light through olive groves made me understand why the impressionists chased shadows across fields.”

About Natalie

Natalie Rossi spent eight years teaching teenagers in Rome, Italy, where the former high school teacher still lives. Painting turned serious on a sabbatical in Tuscany, as early light through the olive groves explained the impressionists’ fascination with shadow. Rossi holds an MFA from Yale School of Art.

Geometric, abstract overlays break across an impressionist base in blue, beige, silver and brown. The subjects are mostly architecture: Porto’s Dom Luís I Bridge mirrored in the Douro, the white shells of Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, the arches of Agios Minas Cathedral in Heraklion and Lisbon’s yellow trams. Our best-selling Rossi canvases appear below, printed on matte canvas and stretched over solid wood.
