Karen Whitley
“I paint in a converted mudroom in Burlington, where the light off Lake Champlain stays soft most of the year. Running a stationery shop taught me how much feeling a plain sheet of good paper can carry. I work with oatmeal and harbor-gray washes, leaving wide areas untouched so each canvas reads like an open page waiting for a single line.”
