Adrian Castellano
“I taught physics for fifteen years in Taos, New Mexico, and drew the orbits of the planets on the board every week. When I started painting, the solar system came with me, only softer: grey-lavender skies, a warm golden sun and planets laid in with a light brush. I paint them in order, one calm line at a time, the way I used to explain them to my students.”
About Adrian
Adrian Castellano spent fifteen years teaching high-school physics in Taos, New Mexico, where he drew the orbits of the planets on the board every week. He holds a BS in Physics from the University of New Mexico, and those years at the chalkboard taught him to slow down and explain big ideas clearly, one step at a time, so that a room full of students could see how the solar system fits together.
When Adrian turned to painting, the planets came with him, only softer. Working in oil on canvas with a blend of Impressionism and modern restraint, he paints grey-lavender skies, a warm golden sun and planets laid in with a light brush, always in order and one calm line at a time. The quiet palette and gentle sense of wonder make his canvases a natural fit for bedrooms, home offices, reading nooks and kids’ rooms, and they bring a peaceful focal point to living rooms and studies. Below are Castellano’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
